General Motors Latin America, Africa & Middle East Region
General Motors Latin America, Africa & Middle East region (GM LAAM), with regional headquarters in Miramar, Florida, is one of GM’s four regional business units. It employs approximately 31,000 people throughout the region, operating two distinct subdivisions: Latin American Operations (LAO) and Africa and Middle East Operations (AMO). GM LAAM markets vehicles under the Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer, Isuzu, Opel, Saab and Suzuki vehicle brands, with custom portfolios based on the driving conditions and customer preferences in each country. The LAAM region sources vehicles and parts from GM companies and alliance partners to automotive companies around the world. As the number one automotive player in this diverse region, GM enjoys a longstanding sales leadership position in key markets like Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, East Africa, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela. In 2001, GM returned to the leadership sales position in South America, which it maintains to date.
